Theoretical Orientation

My clinical approach to treatment reflects my training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy and psychoanalysis. In this regard, my work is strongly influenced by the theories of post-Freudian British Object Relations, including Melanie Klein, W.R.D. Fairbairn, Wilfred Bion and D.W. Winnicott.

In both psychoanalytic psychotherapy and psychoanalysis a strong influence is placed on the patient-therapist relationship, the influence of unconscious factors on behavior, thought and feeling as well as a careful examination of how past emotional obstacles impede growth in the present.

A major difference between these treatment modalities lies in the intensity of focus and frequency of sessions. A singular commonality between the two is the emphasis on providing a safe, secure holding environment where deeply personal issues can be explored.
